Friday 30.01.09
It’s payday, and on payday I like to treat myself to a special lunch. Today I spent the princely sum of £2.75 on a beautiful steak, mushroom & cheese baguette. Added to that cheeky little order was a can of diet coke (£0.60) and a kit-kat (£0.50).
Boooooy it was good. I’m thinking of going to get another one!

Cheer yourself up this afternoon with this great article from the NY Times:
30th Birthday Ideas
It’s coming up to my wife’s 30th birthdays and I’m starting to think about what I should be getting her. The thing is . . . I’m not really sure what you’re supposed to get someone for their 30th!
We’ve booked a nice family holiday to the balaerics, which we’re relly looking forward to and was supposed to be a joint present for us both. However, I’ll feel a bit tight if that’s all I get her as there’ll be nothing for her to open on the big day.
I was considering a couple of options including a nice new radley handbag, one of those small laptops, or perhaps some nice jewellery.
Any ideas on the floor?
Weekendie Spendie
One of those horrible weekends this week that no matter how much you try to spend ZILCH you keep having to spend money. Very annoying:
1 – Haircuts (me & daughter) – £13.00
2 – Fuel – £20.00
3 – Groceries – £40.00
£63.00 spent on not very much at all. Very annoying really.

Can I eat donner kebabs when pregnant?
Just having a look over our stats from yesterday and it seems someone found us by typing in ‘can I eat donner kebabs when pregnant’.
Well . . . I’d love to answer that question but I’m not qualified. I’m guessing that it would be safer to avoid them unless you’re completely sure about the health and safety measures of you chosen kebab provider.

Cheap un although had to pop into the supermarket to pick up some essentials. Spent £10.00 on the nose:
> Crisps
> Formula
> Bread (2 types)
> Washing powder
> Belgian Trappist Beer
> Cider
Quite a lot for £10.00 really. Oh forgot the Ginsters Steak pie. Lively!
Weekend Spends – Most depressing Monday of the Year
I’ve heard rumours that today is supposed to be the most depressing Monday of the year. A culmination of Christmas Blues, skintness, illness and rubbish weather. Sounds about right!
Here’s the first verse of a song I wrote when I was 15 with my good friend Boggy (James Hodgson – I think he’s the road manager for Klaxons at the mo)
Here we go . . .
It’s after Christmas . . . I’ve got the blues
Happiness to me . . . You know . . . Just seems to be old news.
Rapidly losing things to report
My frugal living’s going so well at the moment that I’ve almost got nothing to report to you guys! The hight of spending yesterday was 50p on a KitKat.
Here’s a heads up about tonight though – I’m going to be a bit frivelous . . .
Take away (chinese) – £16.00
Wine (a nice Riesling) – £8.50
I love it
‘Avin it with da Christmas leftovers
We had a serious quantity of Christmas veggies left over on the big day so we cunningly vac packed them and got them in the freezer.
This culminated in a beautiful Christmas soup involving parsnips, sprouts, roast potatoes, carrots and a bit of stuffing and gravy.
It was lovely! It was also very frugal!
Monday 5th January
Uuuuuuurg . . . Yeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy . . . I actually really enjoyed getting back to work yesterday and I celebrated by NOT spending any cash. Brill!
