Back in the game

leave a comment »

Hi there. After a good 19 months out of the game I thought it was time I got back to this part of my life. I originally started the blog because times were quite hard and I was watching the pennies pretty closely. Well unfortunately, things haven’t really changed that much, another little nipper has joined the clan and money is just as tight as ever! LOL! That’s not me on a downer .  . . That’s just the way it is!

Daily Spends for 09.12.10

£10.00 – petrol
£1.50 – breakfast (sausage & beans)
£1.80 – lunch (tuna & baked potato)
£13.30 – Total

Back from the USA – Flu :(

leave a comment »

Quickish business trip to the States ended with a nasty bout of the flu. Still going on I’m afraid!

It’s amazing how much you can spend on medicines isn’t it? I’ve spent £20.00 allready this week:

Bells Cough Tincture
Beechams All in One Capsules
Lashings of Lucozade
Throat stuff

I know I sound a bit wet . . . I probably only get hit like this once every two years though.

No wonder the pharmaceutical industry are dragging their feet on a cure to the common cold 😉

Rapidly losing things to report

leave a comment »

My frugal living’s going so well at the moment that I’ve almost got nothing to report to you guys! The hight of spending yesterday was 50p on a KitKat.

Here’s a heads up about tonight though – I’m going to be a bit frivelous . . .

Take away (chinese) – £16.00
Wine (a nice Riesling) – £8.50

I love it 🙂

Unexpected train journeys

leave a comment »

Nasty one yesterday. . . Car share friend got a touch of Christmasitis and had to go home a lunch, leaving me to foot a grim £10.20 train fare on the way home. Wouldn’t mind but I had to stand up most of the way. The public transport in England leaves a lot to be desired!

DailySpends – Monday 22nd December

Jaffa Cakes – £0.60 (should have been £0.55 but the machine stole 5p)
Train fare – £10.20
Total = £10.60

Christmas party – weekend spends

leave a comment »

This weekend could easily have racked up a lot more of my budget . . . but I’m proud of myself that I took it ‘relatively’ easy and kept the costs down as far as possible:

Friday Night:
Food & wine – £15.00 (night in)

Saturday:
Family treat – £25.00 (Bribes so I could go to Christmas party)
Christmas party spends – £30.00 (Cabs, drinks, kebab)

*Note to employer: BRILLIANT party, thank you 🙂 Free beer always much appreciated.

Sunday:
Shirt for my son – £6.00

Total weekend spend = £76.00

Mortgage Rates

leave a comment »

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a letter from my mortgage company this morning telling me they’d reduced my interest rate by 0.5% in line with the recent BoE base rate reduction.

Very nice 🙂 Saves me about £40.00 a month – Thank you very much GMAC!
